In case you missed it, the Rockford Peregrine Falcon family has grown by three! Three of the four eggs hatched – two on May 21, 2020 and one on May 23, 2020.
Sinnissippi Audubon is hosting a naming contest for this year’s chicks and we would like to hear your suggestions for names. Please submit your suggestions for a female and male name only once (DO NOT use multiple emails or your entries will be disqualified). No profane or vulgar names will be accepted! If more than one person submits the same name, only the first entry will be the one acknowledged. Winners must allow the use of their name in print and on social media.
The deadline to submit your suggestions is June 8th at 12:01am CST. At the end of the day on June 8th, voting will begin and you can cast your vote for your favorite name until June 15th at 12:01am CST.
The chicks will be sexed and banded on June 16th at 10:am. We’ll post information on how to watch soon!
The top names will be used. For example, if there are two males and one female identified during banding, the top TWO male names will be selected and the top female name will be selected. If there are two females and one male identified during banding, the top TWO females names will be selected and the top male name will be selected. In the event that the chicks are all the same sex, the top THREE names will be selected.
Winners will received a bird guide, bird band, and a special peregrine themed gift!
