Rockford Lincoln Middle School students painted a mural on the wall behind the Revell Avenue Strong House!

They chose the Golden-crowned kinglet as the bird they wanted to feature on their mural. This is one of the 314 species that will be impacted from climate change by 2080 according to National Audubon Society’s Birds and Climate Change Report.

These tiny songbirds usually stay concealed high in dense trees, revealing their presence with thin, very high-pitched calls – “see-see-see”. And, yes, you can find them in Illinois.

Thanks to their teacher, Mrs. Jillian Myers, the United Way of Rock River Valley, and SwedishAmerican for collaborating on this project.

We’re so proud of the artwork by these students!
